J'ai composé l'essentiel de cette musique pour voix de baryton et guitare classique en 2017, sans savoir quel en serait le texte. En août 2021, pour en finir avec cette partition inachevée et dans l'intuition qu'elle serait chantée en allemand, j'en ai (enfin!) trouvé la source, dans les Sonnets à Orphée, de Rainer Maria Rilke, où la figure d'Orphée chante et enchante dans un mouvement d'être fabuleux. Je dédie cette musique à Édouard, grand mélomane et amant de la voix, en espérant qu'elle résonne aussi ailleurs. Du fond du coeur, je remercie les deux merveilleux interprètes qui font vibrer cette partition: le baryton Dominique Côté et le guitariste Steve Cowan.

I wrote most of this work for baritone voice and classical guitar in 2017, without having a clue what text would be sung. In August 2021, to bring this unfinished piece to a close, and with a comprehension that it was to be sung in German, I (finally!) found the words in the Sonnets to Orpheus, by Rainer Maria Rilke, where Orpheus sings and enchants in a prodigious flow of being. I dedicate this music to Édouard, fantastical music aficionado and lover of the human voice, in the hope it also finds a resonance elsewhere. From the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank the two magnificent musicians who bring this score to life: the baritone Dominique Côté and the guitarist Steve Cowan.
